Ethical and Professional Information

Our Ethos

We are Chartered members of the British Psychological Society (BPS). As chartered psychologists we have completed a first degree in psychology and postgraduate degree in an applied field of psychology. In order to keep our skills and knowledge updated we follow the BPS guidelines for continued professional development.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is very important in therapy. At Solutions Psychology we adhere to the BPS Code of Ethics on confidentiality and we would only consider breaking confidentiality in the following circumstances:

  • If there were disclosure of ongoing abuse/neglect of a child or vulnerable adult

  • If the client is a danger to themselves or to others

  • In situations where there is a legal obligation to do so (e.g. under the Terrorism Act 2000).

  • We would normally discuss the situation with the client, encourage him or her to participate in the disclosure and support them in doing this.

We will not discuss what occurs in your therapy except in supervision (as outlined in the Code of Ethics).
